This application collates individual research projects from the group of the University of Duisburg-Essen IVF/Fluid Dynamics- something that has been encouraged by Rechenzeitkommission to reduce the effort for reviewing the proposals. The sub-projects are mostly supported by DFG grants and seek to provide insights of nano-particle synthesis, using direct numerical simulations, FDF-LES, and LES with the sectional model, insights regarding multi-dimensional flamelet modelling for LES of pulverized coal combustion, insights regarding three-dimensional detonation structures and the development of a novel all-speed hybrid scheme for compressible flows.
