The HLRS project SCBOPT aims to improve the knowledge of complex flow phenomena and the ability of their predictions. For the simulations the Navier-Stokes solver TAU by DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) with steady state RANS as well as time accurate URANS and Hybrid RANS/LES methods is used. Inside the SCBOPT project research is conducted in two field, aerodynamic interaction effects between propellers and wings and the simulation of wakes. We therefore apply for a budget of 260, 400, 000 CPUh on the HLRS cluster system Hawk over a period of 3 years.
