Atomization is an essential sub-process of nanoparticle synthesis in spray flames. Its importance and its influence on the entire process chain have already been demonstrated in recent publications. However, the complex interactions between nozzle geometry, turbulent nozzle internal flow, and the subsequent primary breakup of the precursor solution have not been fully revealed. To gain a better understanding of the atomization process of the SpraySyn burner, detailed simulations of the primary breakup of the SpraySyn including the details of the nozzle internal flow will be performed.
