Muon magnetic moment

Physics

Bergische Universität Wuppertal

Fakultät für Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften, Theoretische Teilchenphysik

The lattice QCD determination of the hadronic leading order vacuum polarisation plays the decisive role in the interpretation of the muon’s magnetic moment anomaly. We are planning to determine this quantity using finer lattices than in earlier studies. That way we will be able to reduce the uncertainties of present investigations. This project is supported by an ERC advanced grant of the PI of this application (Zoltan Fodor, Project: MUON). We request 603 million core hours of HAWK supercomputer time, to accomplish the goal of this project.
