The heat transfer and solidification process of steel is responsible for its quality. In the framework of this project we want to test a multiphase computational fluid dynamics simulation model for cooling, phase change and solidification process of the fluid steel phase inside the mold (cocille) and in the secondary cooling region for an full scale steel production process. Here a large number of cooling water nozzles and rolls for heat transfer are located. The boundary conditions based on nozzle design and roll positions are essential for steel quality during solidification process. Our model and source-code is based on openFOAM-6 (standard version) with additional extensions for solidification and material properties. Mesh generation with blockMesh and octave (hexaeder blockings). Version is already tested on local 60 CPU parallel cluster (MPI; Ubuntu Linux). Speedup curves and simulation times where measured.
