The HLRS project SCBOPT aims to improve the knowledge of complex flow phenomena and the ability of their predictions. For the simulations the Navier-Stokes solver TAU by DLR (Deutsches Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt) with time accurate URANS and LES methods is used. Based on the performance data of the Hazelhen, the last proposal underestimated the computational demand for the new system Hawk. Due to the new architecture with 128 CPU per node and the bandwidth limitation with the TAU code in combination with the node based accounting scheme, the computational budget is not sufficient to perform the investigations of the last SCBOPT proposal. As shown a 3.3-times increased budget is needed due to the transition from Hazel Hen to Hawk to perform the research and the planned simulations approved in the last proposal of 2019. We therefore apply for a budget of 270.600.000 CPUh on the HLRS cluster system Hawk to finish the research described in the last proposal.
