The present DFG projects aim at investigations of boundary-layer flow-sensing and ?control. The method of choice is the so-called direct numerical simulation (DNS), i.e. a method that resolves the fine scales of motion directly using fine-enough grids. This necessitates using high-performance super computers because of the large computational resources needed (memory and CPU time). Another requirement is handling of large data sets (pre- and post-processing). For these latter requests we need the laki cluster, as the primary resource for the DNS is hermit already.
