The rotorcraft group at the Institute of Aerodynamics and Gasdynamics applies to additional resources to continue its more than two decades of very successfull research on aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of helicopters. The continuous increase in available computing power allows more and more detail and thus physical relevance on our coupled CFD-CSD simulations and aeroacoustic evaluations.In the last project period significant progress has been made on the applicability of massive parallelisation, which by now enables the sensible use of up to 32000 cores beyond 85% efficieny. This allows the trimmed simulation of full rotorcraft in excess of half a billion cells, leading to substantial new insight into the fluid phenomena occuring on a technically relevant field at the international forefront of active research.
