Numerical Simulation of Rotary Wing Aerodynamics, Aeroelasticity and Aeroacoustics

Within the proposed project, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) examinations of rotary aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and aeroelasticity will be performed. With the used block structured CFD code, whole helicopter configurations as well as isolated rotors and open rotors will be examined. A higher order approach will be employed to increase the capabilities to calculate flow penomena around helicopters. A lower order approach will be implemented in a massively parallel manner, to broaden the parametric space to identify the key parameters for intensified studies. The CFD/CSD coupling capabilities will be extended towards higher stability and automatisation of the trim process.
